Nghiem Manh Hung – 5B, Cam Thuong Primary School

On Ocotober 25th, at 2:30pm, Nghiem Manh Hung was riding on the back of his mother’s motorbike on the way to his grandfather’s house.  A careless motorcyclist blindly sped out from an alley and crashed into the side of their motorbike.  Hung was thrown from the motorbike and hit his head on the roadway.  His left hand was broken, but otherwise Hung received only minor cuts and bruises, and only required a one-week recovery.

The difference between Hung and so many children, who die as a result of road traffic accidents, is he was wearing a helmet.  Earlier this year Johnson Diversey donated Protec helmets to Cam Thuong Primary School.  The students and parents received helmets and a comprehensive road safety curriculum, which was taught during the school year.  As a result, Hung was well educated and knew that wearing a helmet was proper road safety protocol.  Today Hung is alive and well and returned to school at the beginning of the month.
